Robert Grant - Chairman, Strathspey Crown
Mr. Grant brings his tremendous experience in innovation and dynamic growth for Fortune 500 companies to his role as CEO of ALPHAEON. For over 20 years, he has played a pivotal role in successful technology and business development in pharmaceutical, medical device, and healthcare markets. Most recently, he was CEO and President of Bausch+Lomb Surgical, leading the significant growth of their product portfolio. In 2006-2010, Mr. Grant was President of Allergan Medical, leading the $3.2 billion Inamed acquisition and the commercial success of Botox Cosmetic, Juvederm, Natrelle breast implants, and Lap-Band brands. Beginning in 2003, Mr. Grant has served as Director, Chairman of the Board, CEO, President, COO, and CFO of Biolase Technology. From 1997-2003, he held various senior management positions at Lumenis. Mr. Grant has served on several corporate boards as an independent director including: Acufocus, Myoscience, and ReShape. Additionally, he has served on several community and civil boards including: Make-A-Wish Foundation, Young Presidents Organization, UCI CEO Roundtable Steering Committee, Chapman Schmid College, The Henry Samueli School of Engineering at UCI and the law school at the same university. Mr. Grant holds a BA from Brigham Young University and an MBA with Honors from Thunderbird School of Global Management. He has also attended the President's Seminar at Harvard Business School. He has lived and worked in nine countries and speaks Japanese, French, Korean, and German fluently.
John Gross, M.D. - Chief Scientific Officer, Alphaeon
Dr. John Gross is a board certified plastic surgeon and board certified general surgeon. He spent seventeen years as Associate Professor, full time faculty at USC/Keck School of Medicine and over ten years as Chief of Plastic Surgery at LA County/USC Medical Center. He remains active today in educating young surgeons as a Clinical Associate Professor at USC. His work as a teacher has been recognized multiple times by his surgical residents as a recipient of the prestigious “Guiding Hand Award.” His peers have voted him one of the Best Doctors in America for twelve consecutive years. His respect within the community is evidenced within his practice as many of Dr. Gross’ patients are other surgeons, doctors and surgeon’s spouses. He is involved nationally and internationally in plastic surgery education. Dr Gross has held many leadership positions in the field of plastic surgery and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Dr. Gross has worked extensively with industry leaders on innovative new products products and technology, bringing his passion for research and development together with his vast knowledge and teaching experience to help develop tools to optimize patient outcomes in breast reconstruction, massive weight loss surgery and youthful rejuvenation. Evolus, a company which Dr Gross co-founded, was acquired by Strathspey Crown/Alphaeon in 2013. He currently is the Chief Scientific Officer for Alphaeon, a Strathspey Crown subsidiary.
Brian Kinney, MD - Plastic Surgeon, Beverly Hills
Lorrie Klein, MD - President & Medical Director, OC Dermatology
She grew up in New Jersey where she attended Rutgers University, graduating Summa Cum Laude. She received her medical degree from UMDNJ- Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Dr. Klein completed her internship at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia and her residency training in Dermatology at the University of California-Irvine (UCI), where she won the outstanding Resident Teacher of the Year Award. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology. She has served as Assistant Clinical Professor in Dermatology at UCI Medical School, and has supervised dermatology residents in their Dermatology-Plastic Surgery Clinics at the Long Beach V.A. Medical Center. As of 2013 Dr. Klein has been a “Top 50” account and is also a Black Diamond Partner with Allergan, representing the top 1% of physicians who use Botox and Juvederm. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, has served as Chairperson of the Orange County Skin Cancer Task Force of the American Cancer Society and is a member of the Dermatology Society of Orange County and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery. She is a trainer and consultant for Allergan (BOTOX®, VOLUMA™ and JUVEDERM™ trainer), Suneva (Bellafill™ trainer) and Kythera (Kybella™ trainer) and is on the advisory boards for Medesthetics Magazine, Aesthetic Trends and Technologies, The Aesthetic Guide and Cearna Aesthetics. Dr. Klein lectures for various companies, to the public and to other physicians on skin treatments and skin care products. She also been interviewed in many print and online publications and television news programs on subjects ranging from cosmetic treatments to medical dermatology.
Philippe Schaison - President, Allergan Medical
Philippe Schaison joined Allergan in 2012 and provides leadership for the U.S. Allergan Medical businesses in his role as EVP & President, U.S. Medical Aesthetics. Prior to joining Allergan Philippe served as Global President Worldwide Travel Retail, and President, Latin America and Middle East, Africa for Clarins. Philippe was also a member of the Clarins Executive Committee. In this role he led an organization of more than 3,000 professionals dedicated to sales and marketing for the Clarins skin care brand, various prestige fragrances, and fashion lines. Philippe brings significant depth to Allergan in aesthetics, pharmaceuticals and strategy development. Prior to joining Clarins, he served as the CEO of Aesthetic Factors and as Vice President of Global Skin Care for Johnson & Johnson. Philippe held general manager positions with L’Oreal leading Southern Europe, the Middle East, and India, he launched Vichy in the USA for L’Oreal, and was the General Manager of L’Oreal in Greece; and held a series of sales and marketing positions at Merck & Company.
Tony Sine - Executive Vice President, Alphaeon
Mr. Sine, Executive Vice President at ALPHAEON, leads our mergers, acquisitions, licensing, and partnerships practice. From 2010 to 2012, Mr. Sine headed business development for Bausch+Lomb's surgical division completing more than seven deals in two years on three continents worth more than $600 million (including milestones). Working closely with B+L's private equity owner, Warburg Pincus, these deals reinvigorated B+L's worldwide product offering, pipeline, and international partners. Prior to B+L, Mr. Sine spent more than four years at Allergan from 2006 to 2010, first as divisional counsel and an integration lead to the then newly-created Allergan Medical, following the named acquisition.
Steve Teitelbaum - Plastic Surgeon, FACS
Scott Whitcup, MD - Founder, Whitcup Life Sciences, LLC; Clinical Faculty UCLA
Dr. Scott Whitcup is founder of Whitcup Life Sciences, LLC focused on the assessment, development, and commercialization of novel technologies addressing unmet medical need. Previously, Dr. Whitcup was the Executive Vice President, R&D and Chief Scientific Officer at Allergan where he lead the discovery and global development of both pharmaceutical products and medical devices in therapeutic areas including ophthalmology, CNS, urology, dermatology, medical aesthetics, anti-infectives, and surgical obesity. Key product approvals included Botox® for chronic migraine, upper limb spasticity, and crow’s feet lines; Restasis® for dry eye; Alphagan® Lumigan®, and Combigan® for glaucoma; Ozurdex® for diabetic macular edema; and Juvederm Voluma® for facial aesthetics. Dr. Whitcup was also in charge of the global medical affairs organization and built the technology assessment group to support Allergan’s business development activities. Dr. Whitcup has 17 issued and 20 pending US patents and over 300 issued and pending international patents. Before Allergan, Dr. Whitcup was the Clinical Director at the National Eye Institute at the NIH, where he led its intramural clinical research program, and headed an immunology lab in the Clinical Branch.
Steve Yoelin, MD - Ophthalmologist, Newport Beach
Steven G. Yoelin is a board certified ophthalmologist with a private practice in Newport Beach, CA. Since the early 2000s, Dr. Yoelin has expanded his practice to include facial aesthetics using injectable neurotoxins, dermal fillers and collagen stimulators. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Yoelin conducts research in various FDA- and investigator-initiated clinical trials pertaining to facial injectables. He has been the lead investigator on several pilot studies and trials, including one that led to FDA approval of a new aesthetic product at the end of 2008. Dr. Yoelin has established a nationwide reputation as an expert in the field of facial injectables. He speaks at professional events and conferences across the country, including every major ophthalmic meeting. He is highly respected by other physicians as a teacher of injectable procedures, as well as a trusted advisor on integrating facial aesthetics in an ophthalmology practice. Dr. Yoelin is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of California, Davis, and earned his medical degree from the University of California, Irvine, where he received numerous awards for his academic and research efforts.
Chris Zachary - Professor & Chair Department of Dermatology, UC Irvine
A dermatologist specializing in cutaneous oncology and reconstruction, cosmetic and laser surgery, Dr. Christopher Zachary is professor and chair, department of dermatology, University of California- Irvine. Dr. Zachary is frequently featured as an invited speaker at national and international symposia and is often sought out by the media (eg NY Times, CNN, Today Show) for his candid comments. His ability to critique has drawn some ire, but so far his humor and English accent have saved him from his detractors. His interest in lasers has led to considerable industry supported research in optimal systems for cutaneous laser surgery.
